Metabolism

Cellular metabolism covers a large area from processes that break down biomolecules to generate energy to anabolic pathways. Metabolic dysfunction is increasingly recognized as a factor underlying or accompanying many rare and common diseases, such as mitochondrial disease, cancer, and diabetes. Center faculty explore metabolic changes using advanced imaging technologies and functional and biochemical approaches in conditions such as mitochondrial disease, inflammation, dyslipidemia, obesity, diabetes, and cancer.
