Cancer Biology
Cancer is one of the leading causes of death. Center faculty pursue various avenues to better understand this highly heterogeneous disease condition at the molecular, chromosomal, and global level. Questions addressed range from basic research to translational clinical applications including studies of regulatory protein networks, early cancer detection, identification of genetic risk factors for cancer, the role of long non-coding RNAs in cancer, and the mechanisms by which early stage cells progress to tumor cells, including the macro-cellular evolution of cancer, mechanisms of cancer heterogeneity, genetic alterations at genome level, and genome chaos.
