During my early undergraduate years, I was able to get hands-on experience working in a fly genetics lab, which sparked my curiosity towards the genetics field and brought me to where I’m at today. I loved the idea of taking observable results and quantifying them, which in my case was through quantifying the amount of red/white pigment present in the eye of fruit flies when presented with a mutant mosaic of red and white color.

This research opportunity defined much of my path today, leading me to pursue graduate studies in the MGG program at Wayne State University. This program will both enhance the knowledge that I’ve previously acquired, as well as expand it towards ideas I have yet to know.
