  • B.S. in bio-medical sciences from Grand Valley State University
  • Currently a fourth year student in the MGG PhD program

I graduated with a Bachelor of Science from Grand Valley State University, majoring in bio-medical sciences with an emphasis in microbiology as well as classical traditions focusing mostly on Classical Latin. When I was an undergraduate student, I did research in bacterial genetics, working mostly on mechanisms for regulation of Salmonella pathogenicity as well as E. coli biofilm formation. As an undergraduate, I fell in love with the creative aspect of research and the ability to use what I have learned to solve a mystery and discover/create something new. I chose CMMG because of the vast amounts of translational research being done and the opportunity to experience a new field.
