Sophia Bradley

Sophia Bradley grew up in St. Louis, MI and graduated from Saginaw Valley State University in 2020 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. During her time there, she enjoyed competing on the NCAA Cross Country and Track & Field teams and mentoring incoming psychology majors. She also nurtured her interest in research by contributing to two studies published by SVSU’s Clinical Psychology Research Team, and completing an undergraduate thesis titled “Knowledge of Genetics and Direct-to-consumer Genetic Testing Among Michigan Public School Educators.” After graduation, she worked for two years as a research assistant. In this role, Sophia gained exposure to genetic counseling by working on a multidisciplinary team to conduct user comprehension studies for direct-to-consumer genetic testing companies applying for FDA authorization of their tests. During this time, she gained advocacy experience by volunteering at a shelter for survivors of domestic violence and sexual assault. Sophia’s further exposure to the genetic counseling field occurred through attending many webinars, listening to podcasts, conducting information interviews with genetics professionals and students, and through mentorship by her wonderful genetic counselor coworkers. In her free time, Sophia enjoys spending time outdoors, trying out new nail art techniques, reading, and hanging out with family and friends.
