Henry Ford Hospital

A subset of students will do internships at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit where they will gain experience providing genetic counseling for a wide range of prenatal/preconception indications and cancer genetic risk assessment and counseling.

Taylor Hayes, MS, CGC. Ms. Hayes joined the Henry Ford Health System Division of Medical Genetics in June 2020, where she provides genetic counseling in the prenatal and cancer clinics. She received her Master of Science in Genetic Counseling from Wayne State University in 2020. Ms. Hayes is certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling and is a member of the Michigan Association of Genetic Counselors and the National Society of Genetic Counselors.

Mary Nyhuis, MS, CGC. Ms. Nyhuis is the Lead Genetic Counselor in the Division of Medical Genetics at Henry Ford Health System. She received her Master of Science in Genetic Counseling from Wayne State University. In addition to providing cancer and prenatal genetic counseling to patients, she is also involved with the molecular tumor board. She provides clinical supervision for Wayne State University and University of Michigan genetic counseling students. Ms. Nyhuis is certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling and is a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors and the Michigan Association of Genetic Counselors.

 

Natalie Vriesen, MS, CGC. Ms. Vriesen joined the Henry Ford Health System Division of Medical Genetics in June 2020, where she provides genetic counseling in the prenatal and cancer clinics. She received her undergraduate degree at the University of Western in Canada and her Master of Science in Genetic Counseling from Wayne State University. Ms. Vriesen is a member of the National Society of Genetic Counselors and the Michigan Association of Genetic Counselors.

Travis Washburn, MS, CGC Mr. Washburn is a genetic counselor at Henry Ford Health System where he provides genetic counseling in the prenatal and cancer clinics. He received his Master of Science in Genetic Counseling from Wayne State University. He is certified by the American Board of Genetic Counseling and is a member of the Michigan Association of Genetic Counselors and the National Society of Genetic Counselors.
