Beaumont Hospital-Royal Oak Reproductive Genetics

A subset of students do internships at Beaumont Royal Reproductive Genetics where they provide counseling for a variety of prenatal and preconception indications.


Sam Gbur, MS, CGC Sam is a genetic counselor in Reproductive Genetics at Beaumont Royal Oak where she specializes in high-risk pregnancies. Sam has experience providing counseling for various reproductive genetic indications including fetal anomalies, abnormal screening, family history, and preimplantation genetic testing. Sam has previously worked in the Center for Fetal Medicine and Reproductive Genetics at Brigham and Women's Hospital and as a laboratory genetic counseling providing telephone counseling and writing reports. Sam graduated from the Arcadia Genetic Counseling program (now affiliated with University of Pennsylvania) in 2016 and went to Northwestern University for undergraduate studies.


Anne Heuerman, MS Ms. Heuerman is a genetic counselor in the Reproductive Genetics Program in the department of Maternal Fetal Medicine at Beaumont, Royal Oak. She provides preconception and prenatal genetic counseling to women with family histories of genetic disorders and pregnancies at increased risk due to fetal anomalies or positive screening. Ms. Heuerman received her Master of Science in Medical Genetics from the University of Cincinnati Genetic Counseling Program in 2020. She is a member of the Michigan Association of Genetic Counselors (MAGC) and the National Society of Genetic Counselors (NSGC). In her free time, she enjoys reading and walks through Michigan’s numerous nature reserves.
