Katie graduated from Michigan State University in 2019 with a BS in Human Biology and a minor in Global Public Health and Epidemiology. As an undergraduate, she worked as a research assistant for two studies: The Prenatal Stress Study and Child Health Advancements from Research with Mothers (CHARM). Throughout that time, she gained advocacy experience by volunteering as part of MSU’s Sexual Assault and Crisis Intervention team. After graduation, Katie spent a year working as a Genetic Counseling Assistant for Progenity, Inc. There, she was able to get significant exposure to laboratory genetic counseling, participate in journal club, and practice teaching genetics to new hires in other departments. Outside of class, Katie likes listening to podcasts, trying new recipes or take-out, and spending time with loved ones (currently from zoom).
