I started working in Dr. Grossman’s laboratory at the Center for Molecular Medicine and Genetics while finishing my master’s degree in Microbiology and Cell Science. Dr. Grossman studies the function of the genes involved in the mitochondrial electron transport chain. I used techniques such as qPCR and chromatin immunoprecipitation to provide evidence for mechanisms of gene regulation.

During that time I got to know about the cutting-edge biomedical research taking place at Wayne State University, and I decided to join the PhD program in Molecular Genetics and Genomics. For my PhD work I would like to focus on global mechanisms of gene regulation, and study cells’ transcriptional responses to environmental stimuli using computational approaches.
