Chandler Stimach is a Fall 2015 graduate from Michigan State University's Lyman Briggs College with a BS in Genomics and Molecular Genetics and a specialization in Public Health and Epidemiology. As an undergraduate, Chandler worked in a canine genetics lab where she investigated short interspersed nucleic elements across different breeds of dogs. She also volunteered for The Listening Ear Crisis Intervention Center, a 24-hour hotline, as a phone counselor. After graduation, Chandler applied her degree and research skills at Genesis Genetics Institute as a PGD Optimization Technician. There, she optimized testing on embryos for families at risk for having children with disease-causing mutations. Chandler has shadowed and interviewed various genetic counselors from East Lansing, Ann Arbor, and Plymouth. In her free time, Chandler enjoys going out to dinner, shopping, and traveling.
