Quick Look

• Graduated with a MS from Shanghai Second Medical University
• Graduated with a MD from Xinxiang Medical College
• Currently a fifth-year student in the PhD program

My interest in the program in the Center for Molecular Medicine and Genetics at Wayne State University stems from its incorporation of basic research in the fields of cellular/molecular biology and genetics into the advanced study of human diseases, offering and highlighting opportunities for translational medical research. This allows its individual members to acquire expertise in specific disciples within the field of modern biology, which can then be applied to particular problems facing the medical world. My area of concentration is hematology and cardiology, exploring the nature of vasculature, hematopoietic cells, cross-talk between the two systems and relevant diseases. Ultimately, I aim to investigate how the loss of transgelin alters the arterial remodeling process on the transcription level and if Smad3 based transcription regulatory machinery controls elastin and collagen balance in the arterial wall.

Research Interests
Advisor: Dr. Li Li
Transcription regulation, extracellular matrix shift underlying initiation and degenerative progression of vascular diseases such as atherosclerosis, stenosis and aneurysms
1. Research on roles of transgelin, a smooth muscle gene, in arterial diseases based on a carotid injury model of knockout mice.
2. Research on the function of Smad3, a transcription factor, in arterial diseases based on an abdominal aortic aneurysm model of knockout mice.
