Quick Look

• Graduated with a BS from Oakland University
• Currently a third-year student in the PhD Program

In late March 2009 I will have the privilege of attending a two week course on molecular evolution which is part of the advanced course series held at the Wellcome Trust Genome Campus in Cambridge, England. The course features instructors from both the United States and Europe who are at the top of their field and is aimed at providing researchers with theoretical knowledge and practical skills needed to carry out molecular evolutionary analysis while teaching fundamental ideas as well as cutting-edge methodologies.

Attendance at this course will be a valuable supplement to my education and greatly aid in the continuation of my research project on New World monkey phylogeny being conducted in Dr. Derek Wildman's Laboratory. As one of a select group of students and researchers who will attend the course I look forward to representing Wayne State University in England and sharing the newly gained knowledge with my peers here in Detroit.
