Quick Look

• Graduated with a BS from Illinois Wesleyan University
• Currently a fifth-year student in the MD/PhD Program

As a member of the MD/PhD program, I get the best of both worlds here in terms of my training and experience. By intertwining Wayne State School of Medicine’s renowned clinical instruction with the innovative research opportunitities available here at the Center for Molecular Medicine and Genetics, I will be able to enter the medical world with an advanced level of training in both the clinical and research aspects of medicine that is quite rare. I have already completed my first two years of medical studies, and am now pursuing advanced research in the neurosciences. Once I earn my PhD, I will return to the medical school for my two years of clinical rotations. I would then like to enter a radiology residency, and ultimately split my time between clinical work and neuroscience research.

Research Interests
Advisor: Dr. Jeffrey A. Loeb
I am currently in Dr. Loeb’s lab, studying epilepsy through an animal model that mimics the transcriptional changes we discovered in the human epileptic brain. Once the model has been shown to replicate the human condition in both electrical and molecular properties, I will begin testing targeted interventions to try to discover a new therapeutic for epilepsy.
