Maryam graduated in 2021 from Scripps College in Los Angeles with a Bachelor’s in molecular biology and a minor in psychology. Her undergraduate thesis focused on mitochondrial RNA degradation under oxidative stress. Outside of school, she has worked to improve colleges’ Title IX systems by making the adjudication process less traumatic and fairer for survivors of gender-based violence. She also spent the past year volunteering on a 24-hour hotline that provides support and resources for survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence. In her free time, Maryam loves to thrift, knit, color, explore, spend time with family and friends, and has recently begun fostering rescue cats.
